In an established neighborhood with classic homes, this, power couple decided to remodel their Master Suite as a gift to each other. Working with them over the years updating the downstairs room by room, my clients allowed me to go with a more modern yet classic vibe in the master bath.
We gutted the room, removed some walls, widened the doorway, and opened up the high ceilings.
Removing the “not so beloved” pink jetted tub, along with all traces of the coordinating pink tile and bright brass fixtures, we replaced it with a visually quiet, gray tile The vision in my head of the double, floating vanity and linen closet was the inspiration for the room. My vision was brought to life by a talented local cabinet maker. We used beautiful walnut wood to coordinate with the new walnut flooring installed through the bedroom, hallway and walk-in closet. Due to the disproportionately high ceiling, I decided we needed to scale it down by adding a crown molding with dimmable LED lights to surround the room in a pleasing glow.
In the bedroom we worked with the clients traditional wood furniture and introduced a leather covered high chest with nailhead accents to break up the monotony. To add warmth and some softening elements in the room we designed a custom suede upholstered bed in a deep eggplant, watercolor floral drapes, gray velvet arm chairs and a soft low pile shag rug.
